Are you feeling ordinary, ill-equipped, or completely overwhelmed by your current circumstances? You are in good company.
In this sermon, Pastor Andrew dives into the Old Testament book of Judges to explore the recurring, seemingly endless cycle of Israel’s rebellion, oppression, repentance, and deliverance. By the time we reach Judges chapter 6, the nation is once again hiding in caves, devastated by the unpredictable, locust-like raids of the Midianites.
But instead of raising up a flawless, legendary hero to rescue His people, God chooses Gideon—a man found hiding at the bottom of a hill, threshing wheat in a winepress just to escape notice. Gideon wasn’t a remarkable leader; he was a regular person marked by mediocrity, insecurity, and fear. Yet, God greets this hiding coward with an astonishing title: "Thou mighty man of valour."
